Dwelley Family Farms Is A Taste of History

It is a long-held belief that history and people are tied together with the food that is shared at the table. Food has had an integral connection to the lifestyle, health, and longevity of a community. Quite simply, food is a critical piece of culture. In East Contra Costa County, Dwelley Family Farms has been a major piece of the agricultural context and continues to play a major role in the farm to fork movement in the state.

A Touch of History

Dwelley Family Farms has been growing in the area since 1921 and is celebrating 5 generations of farming! That is nearly 100 years of contribution to the agricultural landscape!  The Dwelley family explains that the area has historically offered the ideal growing conditions: a mix of hot days with cool coaster evening breezes compounded with the rich Delta soils.  The combination is ideal for growing fruits and veggies.

Dwelley Family Farms has long contributed to both commercial and local farming.  What this means is that their expansive growing capabilities entail growing for commercial purposes and to fill their locally accessible farm stand.  Commercially grown produce is linked to many of the local restaurants, grocers and other local farm stand throughout California and the greater Bay Area.  Locals are lucky to have direct access to Dwelley’s premium fruits and veggies at their farm stand located at 515 Delta Rd, Oakley, CA 94561

The farm is also committed to sustainable farming practices. Sustainable farming practices are intended to protect the environment, improve soil fertility and stresses using resources in a way that will improve human health in the long run.  This has allowed the Dwelley family to produce some of the tastiest, freshest produce in the area for generations, and generations to come.
