When we think of wish-granting foundations, many of us picture organizations that help fulfill dreams for children facing life-threatening illnesses. But right here in Contra Costa County, The Elderly Wish Foundation quietly fulfills lifelong wishes for one of the most overlooked populations: our seniors.
About The Elderly Wish Foundation
The Elderly Wish Foundation was founded by Rebecca Crowder, who used an inheritance she received after her mother’s passing to fund the first two wishes. What began as a small, personal act of kindness has grown into decades of meaningful giving, touching the lives of seniors throughout Contra Costa County.
The foundation was born from a deep understanding that elderly individuals, particularly those facing terminal or life-threatening illnesses, often feel forgotten. With caregivers focused on medical care, there’s little left for fulfilling personal dreams. The Elderly Wish Foundation steps in to offer these individuals a special gift. A chance to create happy, lasting memories in their final years.
A Family-Run Mission
Mary Chapman has been part of the Elderly Wish Foundation since its beginning, joining Founder Rebecca Crowder to form the board of directors. Mary and her husband Bill, along with other dedicated volunteers, have kept the foundation’s mission alive for years. Every board member is a volunteer, actively participating in granting wishes and providing personal support to those they serve.

What Makes Elderly Wish Foundation Special
The foundation’s mission is simple but powerful. Ensure seniors are recognized, celebrated, and never forgotten. Wishes can range from small comforts to life-long dreams finally fulfilled. Some of the memorable wishes granted include:
- A lighthouse visit and overnight stay
- A family birthday celebration
- A limo ride through San Francisco to see the city lights
- Dental work for one recipient who simply wished to smile again
While the wishes may seem simple, they often bring immeasurable joy and a renewed sense of dignity to those who receive them.
